1. Equipment Introduction


1.1 Application Purpose


The chrome corundum furnace is a three-phase tilting electric arc smelting furnace. It takes industrial alumina and chromium oxide powder as main raw materials. Through ultra-high temperature arc melting and reduction crystallization, it produces chrome corundum (chromium single-crystal corundum).

The finished product features high hardness, high toughness, high temperature resistance, and acid & alkali corrosion resistance. It is widely used in precision abrasives, stainless steel / high-speed steel grinding, ceramic refractory materials, special wear-resistant parts, high-end sandblasting and polishing industries.

1.2 Structural Features


Adopts hydraulic tilting electric arc furnace overall structure:

  • Furnace Body: Welded steel plate shell lined with high-temperature resistant refractory castable; high overall strength, excellent thermal shock resistance.
  • Furnace Roof: Enclosed water-cooled furnace cover, reserved with electrode holes, feeding holes and dust removal & smoke exhaust interfaces.
  • Electrode System: Graphite electrode with hydraulic / frequency conversion lifting; PLC intelligent constant power adjustment for stable arc temperature.
  • Short Network System: Water-cooled cables and copper conductive cross arm; balanced three-phase current and low heat loss.
  • Tilting System: Hydraulic drive for smooth furnace tilting and discharging, no impact and high safety.
  • Cooling System: Circulating forced water cooling for furnace roof, conductive cross arm and water-cooled cables; equipped with water pressure and temperature monitoring and alarm.
  • Control System: Fully automatic electric control cabinet, real-time monitoring of current, voltage, furnace temperature and cooling parameters.

1.3 Working Principle


Three graphite electrodes are energized to generate electric arcs, forming an ultra-high temperature zone above 2000℃ inside the furnace to melt the mixed materials of alumina and chromium oxide.

After high-temperature melting and alloying reaction, the molten liquid is poured, slowly cooled, crystallized, crushed, screened and magnetically separated to make chrome corundum abrasives of various particle sizes.
